As of August 1, 2017, Comark Equity Alliance, LLC (CEA) will form through the consolidation of Comark Grain Marketing, LLC of Cheney, Kansas and Equity Marketing Alliance, LLC of Enid, Oklahoma, each a cooperatively owned grain marketing company. The consolidation of these two companies will result in one of the largest federally licensed marketing groups under one license in the United States and is expected to place CEA as a major player in the grain industry.

The board is proud to announce Alan Woodard as Chief Executive Officer for the new company. Woodard’s experience in banking and agriculture makes him a great fit to lead the inception of CEA. Currently, Woodard serves as CEO of Farm Credit of Southern Colorado, ACA and he was previously Regional Vice President of CoBank, ACB.  “The combined strength of these companies will be able to offer additional opportunities in the marketplace to our member owners, ultimately enhancing their individual operations,” said Woodard.

CEA will initially be owned by 28 farmer owned cooperatives with 160 locations in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Also included in the consolidation is Chisholm Trail Terminal, a new train loader in Medford, Oklahoma. Total licensed capacity will be 138 million bushels with annual grain receipts expected to average 121 million bushels. More growth opportunities in central United States are expected for CEA.

Administrative offices for CEA will operate in both Enid and Cheney. Approximately 20 highly skilled professional people with extensive experience in the industry will be employed by the company within both locations.

The cooperative owners are excited for the opportunity to position themselves for the future, while providing their producer owners with more marketing opportunities and the most value for their grain.

 

About CoMark Grain Marketing

Comark Grain Marketing LLC (CGM) was established in 2008 to bring efficiency to the grain marketplace with decreased risk for ten cooperatives and one joint owned LLC in South-Central and Southeast Kansas. CGM is responsible for merchandising, risk management, and sales accounting, and other grain responsibilities for these companies.  In 2009 the Farmers coop in Columbus, KS joined CGM.  In 2012 CGM added three new members: Farmers Coop of Wellington, KS, Mulvane Cooperative Union of Mulvane, KS, and the Decatur Cooperative Association out of Oberlin, KS. April 2016 the McCune Coop in McCune KS joined CGM. December 2016 Danville Cooperative Association and Farmers Coop Grain Association - Wellington merged to form Progressive Ag Cooperative.

About Equity Marketing Alliance

In pursuit of providing greater value and returns for their member owner’s grain, six Oklahoma Cooperatives joined their grain marketing divisions in 2001 and formed Equity Marketing Alliance, LLC.

All grain pricing, merchandising, logistics and accounting were transferred from each local cooperative to EMA’s team of grain specialists.

EMA was developed with three foundational concepts:
